Dear shareholders,

We are excited about the prospect of rain or snow recently; the more moisture we get now, the better our season will be. The early March and April field work is coming along, and we have planted our snap peas!

What's New?
We have new farm partners that will be offering great products to you this year: Pasture Provisions and Hampden Farms.

The bi-weekly meat share
Pasture Provisions is proud to be participating in Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms CSA for the 2018 season. Shareholders of the Chatfield CSA will have the opportunity to sign up for a meat share that will include pick-ups every other week for both Denver Botanic Gardens on Tuesdays and Chatfield Farms on Thursdays. Click on the links below for more information.

Each basket’s contents are hand-selected based on the availability and seasonality of the products we source from our partner ranches and farms.
All of our meat products are USDA-inspected and processed in USDA licensed facilities. Products are stored in certified frozen food storage facilities and handled using food safety best practices. Please notify us of any packaging that is torn or pierced and we’ll replace that product at no charge. Please see links for proper storage and meat thawing instructions.

EGGS: When you purchased a vegetable share did you see the option to purchase eggs with it? Eggs are now available through our website. Each week you will pick up a dozen free range eggs - 20 weeks for $120

We are getting more excited as the days get longer, the soil warms up, the robins and hawks build their nests and all the transplants grow a little each day!

Dear CSA shareholders,

Happy Spring! We have the first crocus up all over the farm and some new tiny plants still tucked away in our greenhouse! Our shares are sold out for the season and now we are rolling! We would first like to welcome you all to our CSA. Returning members and first-time members alike, each season brings much hope and excitement.

We have a few updates for you:

  • Our onion plants are popping up in our greenhouse and they look very happy - red, white and yellow varieties.
  • Self Care Share $15, every other week available now!
You work hard, treat yourself or someone special to a relaxing time.  Each self-care share comes with 3 items: a salt or sugar based scrub, a botanic bath soak, and a whipped lotion. Throughout the share, freshly harvested local flowers and herbs (lavender, calendula, etc) will be incorporated into the products.

  • Free Range Egg Share - Amish Acres $120
Our egg share is back for another year with a new producer. Amish Acres out of Westcliff Colorado.
  • Mushroom Shares $120 still available with two types - the standard share and the deluxe share that includes a T-shirt and grow kit.
  • Fruit Shares are still available!
To purchase additional shares, click here or log into your account from the homepage.

We are working on improvements to our washstand after attending a new Food Safety Modernization Act training this winter. We take food safety very seriously at Chatfield Farms and our staff was grateful for all the new and reviewed information. Attending training's and making important capital improvements is just a part of what we do during the winter at the farm. We also complete our crop planning, seed ordering, financial planning, create program budgets and support our Advanced Veterans Winter Session.

You can learn more about the Food Safety Modernization Act here:

We will start sending out more regular emails now that the season is just ahead. If you have questions or concerns, please reach out!

Hello Waitlist!

Now is the time to sign up for the 2018 Chatfield CSA!

Starting Feb. 1st you can head to our website homepage and select the link "sign up now" or you can use the link at the bottom of this email.

Please note mushrooms, fruit, flowers and vegetables are all on sale right now but we may add a few more share options as they become available - including the popular egg share and the new "self care share". Our egg producer has not confirmed available shares yet for this coming season but we will keep you in the loop when they do.

  • You can choose to pay for your shares all at once or break them into automatic monthly payments.
  • You will need to select one distribution location that works for you for the season. Please keep in mind that the times for distributions are set and don't change week to week. At York St. we start at 4 pm and Chatfield starts at 3:30 pm.
  • Please remember to bring your own bags to reduce plastic. We strive to be zero waste and we are not allowed to give you recycled plastic bags due to food safety standards.
  • When you bring your produce home, please thoroughly wash all produce with cool, running water and let it dry before storing it in an air tight container.
  • We are planning on starting up distributions on May 29 and May 31, depending on the weather in the weeks leading up to those dates.
  • If you are interested in volunteering on the farm to plant your crops, please contact our volunteer coordinator

You can purchase all your shares on our website at:

Thanks so much! We are so excited to get our hands in the dirt and to have you be a part of our community.

Dear Shareholders,

We would like to say thank you for all your support this season. Please fill out our end-of-season survey, and let us know what you loved and what we can work on! We apologize for the auto reminders about distribution - they are turned off for good now. We are already missing having the fresh vegetables in our lives and are sure you are too.

Phil's little Levy continues to grow and get stronger and we are all so happy to have a new farm family member.
The farm staff is ready for a quieter, inward period where we can rest and reflect. We hope you all can do the same and we will see you next spring.

Supporting Shares:
We will deliver holiday produce boxes this coming Tuesday, the 21st. If you are not home during the day, do not worry, the items inside will be fine until the evening. Please email with your current address so we make sure you receive your Thanksgiving vegetables and other storage items.

The Volunteer Party - Homemade door prizes and plenty of merriment!
December 7th, at 6 p.m. we will gather for dinner and drinks in the Green Farm Barn for our annual volunteer appreciation party.  If you have more than 16 volunteer hours and haven't yet RSVP'd please do so today! Please email Marissa.

The Art T-shirt Contest
We haven't received any completed artwork yet for the CSA T-shirt project! Please consider making a sketch, painting, block print, photograph, digital design or other and send it in! If you don't have a scanner, you can drop it off with us and that will enter you to win the contest!

From all of us at the farm, we wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and hope to see many of you at the volunteer party!

Dear Shareholders,

As we wrap up another great season, we would like to remind you of a few dates:

October 26, at the farm, we will have local makers bring their finest goods for sale. This is a great time to stock up on holiday gifts and items just for you - that were made by your farmers, veterans and friends. We have a talented bunch and this event is always fun. Warm cider and cookies will offered. Please join us (most of you have to in order to pick up your share!).

Add on shares:
- Fruit will end Oct. 26
- Mushrooms, bread, eggs and Balanced Belly Shares are finished.

CSA Distributions:

 - Oct. 24 and Oct. 26 will be the last distributions.
 -  Supporting shares will receive a Thanksgiving delivery before the holiday
 - Some of you still have balances on your account, you will be receiving a final bill, due November 15th.
 - Volunteer Shareholders will receive a reimbursement check before December 15. If you qualify, please email your current address to Josie Hart,
 - Share Renewals will be available starting in January. You will have the entire month to renew your CSA share before we open sales to our waitlist.
- Surveys - you will receive a link for our survey and we will have them available to folks at distributions. PLEASE fill out a survey - it's the only way we can learn and improve our operation. We appreciate the time it takes, we really do.

Questions or comments? Please let us know!

A special project:

We accepting original artwork to be the ace of our new CSA T-shirt! If you have a piece or want to create something that reflects our farm, community and produce, please enter! If your piece is chosen, you will receive a prize and a free T-shirt. Take a high quality shot of your art and email us!

Dear shareholders,

We wanted to correct an error from last week's newsletter, regarding the fruit share for October:

Our very own Chatfield Farms honey is available for sale starting today and will be for sale at distributions while supplies last. There are three types of honey this year: the light usually tastes the sweetest and brightest, the medium is the most full-bodied classic honey flavor and the dark honey is a complex, more savory or molasses-type flavor.

Prices (cash or check please):

Quarts: $25.00
Pint: $13.00
1/2 pint: $7.00

Please limit two jars a person in the beginning until most members have been able to purchase the honey and then we can release the rest for final sales.
